The Chairman of
Kwali Area Council, Mr Joseph Shazhin, has urged teachers in the council
to be committed to their duty or risk being sacked.
Shazhin, who spoke
Friday, after he paid unscheduled visit to Local Education Authority
(LEA) office in the area, said that about 70 per cent of federation
account allocation to the council went for the payment of primary school
teachers and staff of LEA.
He said that his
visit to the LEA was meant to enable him ascertain if the staff were
punctual to work, adding that the present administration would ensure
that staff were dedicated to their duty.
He warned that his administration would not condone absenteeism.
"The Kwali LEA
office is the one gulping our monthly allocation as 70% goes to payment
of both staff and teachers, who we need to ensure they go to work.
"I told them, I
will continue with my unscheduled visit to check their punctuality. As
you can see, most of the staff didn't come to office," he said.
