The only female governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in Ondo State, Jumoke Ajasin-Anifowose, has given reasons why members of the party should elect her as the party’s candidate.
Anifowose said she laid the foundation of the APC in Ondo State when she served as Chairman of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria by wooing many people into the party.
Speaking in a chat with our reporter, Anifowose said many political juggernauts in today’s APC joined the party because of her presence.
She said she visited many aggrieved members in their houses and those that already joined the PDP returned to the party.
On whether she would step down for any consensus candidate, Anifowose said she would not step down for any aspirant that is arrogant and nobody could talk to.
She also denied using her later father’s name to gain political favours.
According to her, “It depends on the consensus candidate. I cannot just say I will accept. If I know it is the person that will do well and make the people of Ondo State happy and will do what should be done for the people, I will support.
“How many favours have I been given since I joined politics. I have been spending my money on politics. Which favour are they talking about? Who at of all of them with the work my father did for the country to bring democracy on stream, what has any government done for any of his children? I don’t use his name until recently. It is not me it is people that are using the compound name.
“All of us that came out in the Unity Forum, who are the real progressives? Who are the party people? You media should do your homework. Analyze everybody and let the leadership know. You left SDP today, you want to be Governor tomorrow in APC. you left AA, you want to the Governor in APC. You don’t have APC membership card and you want to be APC Governor. I don’t know how people think.
“Ondo people should shine their eyes and see who out of the aspirants they should vote for at the primary election. I have been with them for a long time. I have brought everybody together. I am a peaceful person. I don’t go about with thugs. I don’t harrass people. I am a democrats and mother to all of them. I should be consider for the position.”
