Eight illegal routes created by transporters to beat the Covid-19 travel ban have been discovered in Kwara State.
The police who made the discovery have proposed tougher sanctions to check violation of the ban.
The proposed measures include prosecution and impounding of offenders’ vehicles, while their passengers would be sent back to where they were coming from.
Police Commissioner Kayode Egbetoku who disclosed this, said: “Despite our efforts, truck drivers keep smuggling passengers in different trucks.”
