INTRODUCTION:-
Different crimes abound all over the world today and these have led to defilements, shame and sorrows. So also are skirmishes and insurgencies which have led to hunger, displacement and the destruction Of many destinies. At the bottom of all these is the absence of love (2Timothy 3:1-4).

WHY SHOULD WE TALK ABOUT LOVE?
Love is at the core of the existence of man. God is love and we were created by Love in His image (Genesis 1:26). Jesus loves us and love is at the root of our salvation (John 3:16; 15:13; Revelations 1:5). More so, the first and the second great commandments are summarised into love (Matthew 22:37-39). Love is the fulfilment of the law (Romans 13:10; John 15:12).

WHAT DOES LOVE ENTAIL?
The following are the essentials of love:
1. Compassion - This is a strong feeling of empathy for people who are suffering and a desire to help them. Jesus showed compassion throughout His life and ministry here on earth and expects us to do likewise (Matthew 15:32; Luke 7:13).

2.Forgiveness- A Loving heart is central to forgiveness. Love is not easily offended and it keeps no record of wrongs. A man who loves will always forgive (Ephesians 4:32; 1Peter 4:8).
3. Mercy - A kind attitude towards someone that you have the power to harm, punish or ignore. Mercy is Possible when love is present (Micah 6:8; Psalm 18:25-26).
4. Giving - The act of giving is the best expression of love. The one who loves will present a pleasant offering which is sacrificial and is solving a problem (John 3:16; Romans 12:13). We can give time, money, encouragement, a listening ear, influence, energy, help, etc.
CONCLUSION:-
The Word of God says that prophecy and knowledge will fail but love will never fail. We therefore need to cultivate the habit of loving one another for this is God's will for us (1Corinthians 13:1-8).
