We Will Complete Ajasa-command Road In Five Weeks- Ambode

Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode on Tuesday evening said the Ajasa-Command Road in Agbado Oke-Odo Local Council Development Area (LCDA) area of the State would be completed in the next five weeks, just as he assured that the Abesan Estate link road connecting Aboru from Agbelekale would equally be completed before the end of the year.

Governor Ambode, who gave the assurance while on an unscheduled inspection tour of on-going projects around the axis, said the dual carriage Ajasa-Command Road would be completed with functional street lights, drainage system, walkways and road median.

Addressing multitude of residents who gathered to receive him at Command axis of the road, Governor Ambode said the transformation of the road, which is a major connecting road from Lagos-Abeokuta expressway to Ipaja axis, was part of his promise to run an all-inclusive government where no region will be left untouched.

The Governor recalled his visit to the area about two months ago where he lamented the dilapidated state of the road, and ordered contractors to move to site immediately.
He said: “You all recall that two months ago, we came here and we were totally displeased with the state of the road in this particular area. I have come to inspect the work that is being done and I must say that we are satisfied with the pace of work, and we also have it on assurance that by the middle of next month, this Ajasa-Command Road will be completed.
“We only want to appeal to all our community leaders and all the residents here that you make sure that you maintain whatever infrastructure that we will be giving to you here. I can also assure you that Aboru, Church Street Road linking up with Abesan Estate will also be completed before the end of the year,” the Governor said.
Governor Ambode, who was accompanied on the tour by top government functionaries, also visited Abesan Estate where work is on-going on the major link road in the area.
He said: “We have come to say a big thank you with this project. You know this project will take you from Aboru and then you cross over from Abesan and then you can go to Ipaja or anywhere you like to go.
“We know that it’s been a long time you have been waiting for this project, but you know what, before December you will ride on this road. We want to thank you for your patience and I can assure you that this is just the beginning, you are going to see more things here.”

Earlier, Special Adviser to the Governor and Chief Executive Officer of Lagos State Public Works Corporation (LSPWC), Engr. Ayotunde Sodeinde said box covers were being introduced on some parts of the road to ease flow of water pending the completion of the project.

He said the lighting system on the Ajasa-Command Road was on and the poles now in place, adding that the median on the road would soon be constructed.
On his part, Senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Solomon Olamilekan, thanked Governor Ambode for embarking on various developmental projects despite the harsh economic realities in the country.

“I want to thank the State Government most sincerely. We started from the commissioning of the Light Up Lagos Project from Toll Gate in Sango Ota to Ile Zik and we are now in this area. The bridge is supposed to link Aboru to Abesan to Ipaja. The Governor has enough excuses to give considering the economic downturn, but still, he is embarking on projects. This is Alimosho and we would continue to support the Governor,” the Senator said.
Speaking on behalf of residents, a Community Leader in Aboru, Chief Mufutau Shoremekun, described Governor Ambode as a dynamic Governor who has fulfilled his promise to the people.

He said: “I have to thank our dynamic Governor for fulfilling his promise to this community despite the economic problems of Nigeria. The Governor has a lot of excuses to say this project will not be feasible and so we are sincerely grateful to you for all what you have been doing. Infact, for a Governor to embark on 114 roads, it’s a lot of work and we thank him very much.”
